A PIER IN THE LAKE
International Design Competition
«A lake is a landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is Earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature» (Thoreau, H.D., 1954)
For Tirana Design Week 2019, we invited designers and architect to join the debate through the proposal of a ludic project – or installation – that could speculate about the issues presented above: those of UnCertainty and Non-Normativity.
The idea of the Committee was to foster the participants a Research Through Design approach to foresee possible future scenario for one iconic place within the municipality of Tirana, the Farka Lake (Liqeni i Farkës), that could be used as a catalyst to revitalize a currently underrated and depressed area.
Within the many projects submitted this year, only 6 were considered by the International Jury to be fulfilling the basic conditions to be evaluated and become part of the selected ones for the Competition.
In the end, the Jury - unanimously - decided to not give a First Prize because none of the proposals was recognized to be deserving the maximum amount of marks and did not match criteria set by the commission.
For this reason, a second and third prize, together with a mention of honor were given by the jurors to the other best projects within all the submissions.
NOT ASSIGNED UNANIMOUSLY BY THE JURY
Enkeleida Lika, Flavio Cyci
Thanks for participating!
